Classroom teachers,

We have the opportunity to determine if we are ready for Mock Map to take place on October 21.

To get ready there will be several emails asking you to complete tasks.

1.  Devices: Check all student devices (chrome books, minis, etc.) to ensure they are in working order, have no issues, and can remain online and with a charged battery for at least an hour.

Any issues please submit a tech request then email Pam and me.

2. Headphones: every student will need access to a listening device such as headphones or earbuds.  Please make the necessary arrangements as soon as possible.

3. Released items: This website is available for you to use as a teaching tool to prepare for the upcoming smarter balanced assessment: http://dese.mo.gov/college-career-readiness/assessment/smarter-balanced/sbac-sample-items

Worked on developing a process for teachers to follow to help clarify the iObservation process.  Found here:

We, at this time, choose the option of "Conferences." Conferences are private conversations between you and one other user in the system. It allows professional dialogue to begin or continue before a face-to-face meeting (or during a face-to-face meeting). Conferences can be used between observers and teachers to talk about feedback after walkthroughs/observations; between peers to support each other; and between coaches and teachers or between colleagues in a mentorship capacity.

Informal vs. Walkthrough
What's the difference?
Walkthrough: Focus on 1-3 elements, about 5-7 minutes in your room
Informal: 4-6 elements, about 15-20 minutes in your room

The Process:

Attached is a flow chart I created to help clarify "what happens next."  I hope it helps, if it's still confusing, please send me a note on how to make it more clear for the benefit of all of us. (see above)

Assisted with dismissal

Met with 5th grade teacher regarding reading walkthrough.

Reviewed learning targets and proficiency scales for 3rd grade reading.
